Job Description

Starfish Demolition & Services Limited is a multi-service demolition contractor based in Dartmouth, NS. Primarily removing and disposing of construction demolition, including proper remediation and abatement of hazardous materials like asbestos and mould. We also do work for healthcare facilities under infection control plans, restoration contractors, cities and municipalities, property management firms and education facilities.  We are COR Certified and committed to building a strong safety culture.  We are growing, largely in part, because of the strong safety standards and workmanship of our employees. Employee responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complying with all safe work procedures
  • Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
  • Co-operating with the OH& S Program
  • Following WHMIS Regulations
  • Reporting unsafe conditions to the Foreperson
  • Reporting all accidents and injuries, regardless of severity and co-operating in subsequent investigations.
  • Showing up Fit for work each day
  • Reporting any observed impairment of others to the Foreperson
  • Supplying accurate personal information upon hire
  • Refusing to participate in any unsafe actions on the jobsite
  • Operating machinery only when all required guarding is in place and proper authorization given
  • Reporting to work free from alcohol or drugs, in both possession and influence
  • Wearing suitable personal protective equipment correctly, and ensuring proper working condition
  • Participating in daily safety talks and offering recommendations

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma, GED / Hazmat experience or certification is an asset
  • Laborers of all experience levels required, particularly those willing to work safely with hazardous materials (asbestos, mold & lead)
  • Concrete cutting, coring and drilling experience an asset
  • Must have CSA approved steel toed work boots.
  • Construction experience
  • WHMIS training 2015
  • Arrive on-site on time, able to lift 50lbs unattended
  • Work well with others
  • Good communication skills
