Our Starfish Demolition team recently completed the demolition of the burned Sobeys building in Woodside, and this project presented some unique challenges.
A lot of thought and careful planning went into this demolition. The building was directly adjacent to neighbouring properties, with sheds and other structures very close to the work area. One neighbour was understandably very concerned about protecting their 50-year-old orchard. Before starting, our team took the time to go to each neighbouring property, speak with the homeowners, and understand their concerns. From there, we developed a plan for the controlled removal of the building, with a strong focus on protecting everything around it.
At Starfish, we take pride in controlled demolition. It’s not simply about bringing a building down, it’s about understanding the site, planning every step, communicating with the people around us and using the right equipment and techniques to safely control the demolition. We were extremely happy with the outcome. The building was safely removed with no damage to the neighbouring properties, sheds or the 50-year-old orchard.
This project is a great example of why experience, communication, planning, and attention to detail matter in demolition.
